The 2024 SIGCSE Technical Symposium will be a primarily in-person event with only limited remote participation options. The health and safety of the TS 2024 family — participants and volunteers alike — remains a top priority. With a focus on coming together safely this March, we will be implementing the safety protocols below for all in-person participants. While the information provided here is accurate at the time of writing changes may be necessary on short notice to comply with government mandates.

Medical Assistance During the Symposium

An EMT is available in the Oregon Convention Center to assist with medical matters at the following times. The EMT is located near the Registration desk and E meeting rooms.

  • Wednesday, March 20, 2024: 8:30am to 10:00pm
  • Thursday, March 21, 2024: 7:30am to 9:30pm
  • Friday, March 22, 2024: 7:30am to 10:00pm
  • Saturday, March 23, 2024: 8:00am to 6:30pm

Proof of Vaccination

Vaccination is an effective way to reduce your risk of contracting a variety of communicable diseases, including COVID-19. We encourage all attendees to be vaccinated in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of the public health authorities in their jurisdiction of residence. Attendees at the 2024 SIGCSE Technical Symposium are not required to submit proof of vaccination or attest to being fully vaccinated.

Face Masks

Face masks are an effective way to prevent the spread of many common respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, RSV, and the flu, in crowded indoor spaces. Anyone that would like to wear a mask should feel free to do so. Please respect each individual’s choice about whether or not to wear a mask.

Social Distancing

Buttons and/or stickers will be available, similar to what was has been provided in recent years, to indicate your preference for handshakes, elbow bumps or no physical contact. Please respect the preferences that other attendees are indicating. Seating is currently planned to be standard conference seating.

Physical Safety Considerations

The convention center advises walking in pairs or larger groups after dark. We also suggest that you make a point of being aware of your surroundings and remove your conference badge when leaving the convention center so that it is less obvious that you are not from the area.
